There's a meaningful difference between a candle that comes off a production line and one that's poured, checked, and packed by hand in small batches. This is a closer look at what that process actually involves, start to finish.
Sourcing Wax and Fragrance Oils
Every batch begins with sourcing decisions β 100% soy wax, never a paraffin blend, and IFRA-certified fragrance oils specifically tested for safe use in burned products. These choices happen long before a single candle is poured, but they shape everything about the final product.
Melting and Blending
Wax is melted gently to a specific temperature range β hot enough to fully liquefy and bind cleanly with fragrance oil, but not so hot that the fragrance degrades before it ever reaches a customer's home. Fragrance oil is blended in at this controlled temperature, a step that affects both scent strength and how evenly it will be held throughout the candle's life.
The Pour
Wax is poured by hand into each vessel β jar, urli bowl, votive β with wicks pre-centered and held in place to set evenly as the wax cools. This is the most time-intensive part of small-batch production, since each piece is poured individually rather than run through automated filling equipment.
Curing
A freshly poured candle isn't ready to ship or burn immediately. Curing β letting the wax fully set and the fragrance oil properly bind into it over a period of days β is what allows a candle to reach its full fragrance potential rather than underperforming on an early burn.
Quality Testing
Before any batch ships, candles are checked for wick centering, surface finish, and burn behavior. This is also where the small-batch model pays off directly β a production-line process makes this kind of individual check far harder to do consistently.
Packing by Hand
The final stage is packing, done by the same small team rather than an automated line β which is part of why we can stand behind the consistency of what actually arrives at a customer's door, not just what left the workshop.
